Dr Ross C. Bernhardt resigns as Artistic Director of the Corpus Christi Chorale. We thank him for seven years of fantastic musical memories and wish him well on future endeavors.
We welcome Arlene Long as our new Artistic Director and Conductor. Her biographical information follows:
Arlene Long has had a long and joyful career making music. Her musical academic background includes a BM from Samford University and a MM from the University of Michigan. Her teaching career began in elementary school in Michigan, continued at Del Mar College, Corpus Christi, and currently at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, where she has taught musicianship, class and studio piano, and accompanying.
Collaborative music has been a forte of hers, serving as accompanist for Corpus Christi Chorale for about twenty-five years, as well as principal keyboard in the Corpus Christi Symphony for thirty years. She co-founded and accompanied a chamber vocal group, Kantorei, for several years. Her church music career has included Baptist, Presbyterian, and Episcopal churches and has involved numerous concerts. She continues as music director at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, where the choir undertakes special projects regularly in addition to regular Sunday music duties.
In 2009 she founded the Heart of Texas Chorale, who toured France in the summer of 2010, singing in several special venues. The group changed its name to A Cappella Corpus Christi, with the intent to perform mostly a cappella music; this group has performed several concerts locally and has great enthusiasm for exploring music in a deep and meaningful way.
Fall, 2015 finds Arlene as Artistic Director of the Corpus Christi Chorale, an exciting musical adventure.
