CCYC: Corpus Christi Youth Chorale

The Corpus Christi Youth Chorale (CCYC) is a music outreach program sponsored by the Corpus Christi Chorale.

Open to students in grades 3-8, the CCYC brings together local kids from all walks of life and musical backgrounds. Our goal is to create a fun, positive environment for children to learn about music and make new friends.

Rehearsals
The CCYC rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the Center for the Arts Building at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

Meet the Youth Chorale Team
Katie King
CCYC Executive Director

Katie King has lived in South Texas since 2001. Since then, she has come to love Corpus Christi, the people, and all it has to offer. Katie is a graduate of Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi with a bachelor's degree in music education. She has served in her church as a music coordinator and choir director for over 9 years.
Currently, Katie serves as the president of the children's organization at her church. She thinks that teaching music to children is one of the most fun and rewarding things she gets to do.
Katie has been married to her husband Andrew for 15 years. They have four children, two of whom sing in the Corpus Christi Youth Chorale.

Alexis Garcia,
CCYC Assistant Director

Alexis Garcia holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Texas A&M University- Corpus Christi. She earned her Level I Orff certification from Texas A&M University- Kingsville, and is the president of the Wild Horse Desert Orff Chapter. She has experience as a performer, piano teacher, and elementary music teacher.

Alexis began her teaching career by teaching piano classes in Corpus Christi, Texas. She then went on to teach elementary music for a Catholic school in the Corpus Christi Diocese. She has taught elementary music for six years in CCISD.
